CryptoCadet

Start

Quickstart

From a new account to your agent's first paid request.

1. Create an account

Sign up at cryptocadet.app/v4/signup with your email and a password of at least 8 characters. We email you a confirmation link: open it before you sign in. After that you can sign in on the web at cryptocadet.app/v4/login, and the CLI uses the same email and password.

2. Install the CLI

Terminal
curl -fsSL https://cryptocadet.app/install.sh | sh

Homebrew, npm and Windows are covered in Install.

3. Create the agent wallet

Terminal
cryptocadet init

The setup wizard asks a few questions. The defaults are right for most people:

  • Role: buyer, seller or both (default buyer).
  • Network: Base mainnet (default yes).
  • Server URL: https://api.v4.cryptocadet.app (default).
  • Server API key: leave it blank. You sign in with cryptocadet login in the next step.
  • Payout address (asked if you chose both): leave it blank for now. Sellers set it after signing in, with cryptocadet payout:set (see Selling).

It creates a new, empty agent wallet on Base mainnet and prints its address. The key is encrypted on your machine and unlocked through your OS keychain. It never asks for your main wallet's key. It also writes a starting spending policy: USDC only, at most $1 per payment and $5 per day, and no sellers allowlisted until you add them.

4. Sign in

Terminal
cryptocadet login

Enter the email and password from step 1. The CLI exchanges them for your account's API key and stores it in the OS keychain. Your password is not stored. For scripts, pass --email and set CRYPTOCADET_PASSWORD in the environment.

5. Fund your agent

Pick one, or set up both. When both are available, fetch tries card credits first.

Option A: card credits

Terminal
cryptocadet credits:buy --usd 5
# open the "pay" link it prints and pay on Stripe Checkout
cryptocadet agent-token:create --name my-agent --per-call-usd 2 --daily-usd 5

Top-ups are between $5 and $1,000. The agent token lets this machine's agent spend your credits within the caps you set. It is stored in the OS keychain and never printed. Check your balance with cryptocadet credits:show.

Option B: your own USDC

Send USDC on Base to the agent address init printed, plus a little ETH on Base for gas. Keep only a working amount there. Then check it arrived:

Terminal
cryptocadet wallet:show
GasEvery USDC payment needs a little ETH for gas. Once the wallet has some, the CLI tops it up on its own by swapping a small amount of USDC for ETH when it runs low. It can't do that from a zero ETH balance, so send a little ETH to start.

6. Fetch something

Terminal
cryptocadet fetch https://api.v4.cryptocadet.app/v4/g/<handle>/<slug>

If the URL answers 402, the CLI pays and repeats the request. It prints a JSON result with the HTTP status, whether it paid, which rail it used (credits or usdc), and the response body.

Paying in USDC for the first time from a seller is refused until you trust that seller. The error includes the exact command to run, for example:

Terminal
cryptocadet allowlist:add --kind recipient --address 0x…

Run it, then repeat the fetch.

Next steps

  • Buying: caps, policy, approvals and agent tokens in detail.
  • Selling: publish your first item and get paid.
  • Concepts: how the gateway and the two payment rails work.
